Rainbow Moonstone Dangle Earrings. Blue Glow

For sale is a pair of rainbow moonstone earrings in sterling silver.  These moonstones have a wonderful blue glow called "adularescence."  Each earring features a moonstone that is bezel set and set below a silver bell.  The earrings are suspended from shepherds hooks.  These are versatile, elegant earrings with a wonderful ethereal glow.

Adularescence is the optical phenomenon that causes the extraordinary glow on the surface of moonstone. The light moves across the stone much like moonlight would glide across a large body of calm water. This happens when light reflects off of the thin layers of different feldspar minerals within moonstone. The layers act as a diffuser, softening the light and allowing it to bounce around the stone.  

The item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
