For sale is a 14k yellow gold "silver top" ring with natural mine-cut diamonds. This is an antique ring from the Georgian era (between 1714 and 1837.) The ring is entirely 14k yellow gold except for the very top, where the diamonds are set. The ring is a cluster or flower design, with six large round rose-cut diamonds surrounding a central round diamond. The diamonds are rose-cut, hand-cut by a jeweler with far fewer facets than more modern diamonds. The diamonds are gray in color, with lots of natural inclusions. (See magnified photos.). The diamonds are large at about 4mm each. This size translates to about 0.25 carats each in a modern cut diamond. The diamonds are bezel-set in a circle of sterling silver that is engraved with a daisy or flower pattern around the diamonds. The band of the ring is solid 14k gold, and the basket supporting the sterling circle is also solid gold. The band narrows to a very thin 1mm at the back. The ring is very large and makes a bold statement on the hand. It would make a beautiful engagement ring, or right hand anniversary ring.
