For sale is a 10k yellow gold green onyx ring. This ring is a beautifully crafted and preserved antique from the 1930s. The ring was made by the famed and respected jeweler's Bailey Banks and Biddle and bears their stamp. This is a signet style ring with a large rectangle of green onyx that is bezel set on the top. The onyx is framed in gold, and edged with a delicate carved pattern of detailed leaves. Both shoulders of the ring are carved with a stunning likeness of the Dublin Castle in Ireland. The castle is backed by a halo of sun rays. A tangled bed of roses is carved at the foot of the castle.
The ring is engraved with the words "Mary" and "Fortitude." The gates of the Dublin castle have two famous statues; Fortitude and Justice. The ring is also inscribed with the year it was purchased "1934."
This ring is sturdy and solid at 12 grams. It is wide at over 3/4 Inch. It is in pristine "like new" condition. I have never seen anything like it in years of buying and selling vintage jewelry. It would be beautiful worn by either a man or a woman. If you have Irish heritage, or just love all things Celtic, this ring will delight you for a lifetime.
Dublin castle was originally built on the orders of King John of England in 1204 on a site previously settled by the Vikings. He ordered that a castle be built with strong walls and good ditches for the defence of the city, the administration of justice, and the protection of the King’s treasure.
The statues of Fortitude and Justice on the gates were sculpted by John Van Nost the Younger in 1753. The tower was built over the original twin-towered entrance into Dublin Castle which was equipped with a portcullis and drawbridge and also served as a prison.
It was from this building the Irish Crown Jewels were mysteriously stolen in 1907. They were never recovered.

The item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
