For sale is a spectacular artisan silver ring featuring two dazzling Ethiopian Welo opals, each alive with an ever-changing rainbow of color.

These opals are especially unusual because they are not traditional smooth cabochons. Instead, their surfaces have rough, irregular facets that catch the light from different angles, enhancing and magnifying their extraordinary play of color. Move the ring in good light and you will see an incredible range of electric green, yellow, orange, red, blue and purple fire dancing through the stones.

As with many Ethiopian opals, these beauties are more subtle in dimmer light. Give them some sunshine or bright indoor light, however, and they absolutely come alive.

The two stones have complementary shapes—one a lovely teardrop and the other an oval—and each is held securely in a hand-crafted crown-style silver setting. The irregular little points surrounding the opals add even more texture and character to the design.
