14k Yellow Gold & 925 Australian Black Boulder Opal Pendant. Lombard 1

For sale is an Australian black boulder opal pendant in 925.  The pendant was crafted by the jewelry designer B. Lombard.  The opal's black matrix (or boulder) creates a dramatic backdrop for the impressionistic wash of opalescent fire.  The splashy patterns of vibrant color remind me of Impressionist works like Matisse's Water Lilies paintings.  In sunlight you will see cherry red, orange-pink, fuchsia, tangerine and yellow fire.  You will even see splashes of peacock blue and purple as you move the opal in the light.  The opal is a slightly domed rectangle.  It is bezel-set, with a wide silver frame.  The frame is decorated with a 14k yellow gold Celtic triangular "love knot."  The pendant has a 14k jump ring bail to accommodate your chain.  The back of the pendant is solid silver.  This is a lovely, colorful opal that will delight the opal lover.  If you have only ever owned an old-fashioned white opal, this opal will open your eyes to a whole new world of beauty!
