10k Yellow Gold "Alpha to Omega" Engraved Pendant. Antique

For sale is a 10k yellow gold pendant with the Greek symbols for alpha and omega outlines in cream enamel.  The pendant is an elaborate carved and scalloped rectangle.  The center of the pendant features a large, open book with the alpha symbol on the left page and the omega symbol on the right page.  The back of the pendant is polished smooth. The pendant is suspended from a jump ring bail to accommodate your chain.  This is a sweet, romantic pendant with lovely old-world charm.

Meaning:  The pendant's meaning can be interpreted two ways.  First, because alpha and omega are the first and last symbols in the Greek alphabet, the expression "from alpha to omega" is used to indicate "from beginning to end" or "from A to Z."  Second, in the New Testament God declares "I am the Alpha and Omega" which has been interpreted by some to mean "There is nothing outside of God."

The item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
