14k Yellow Gold Reverse Painted Essex Crystal Dog BUBBLE Pendant. Stiff bail

For sale is a 14k yellow gold "Bubble" pendant with a reverse painted dog.  Reverse painted jewelry was very popular during the late 19th and early 20th century, most often used for sporting themes such as hunting, fishing and often, dogs!  I had my jeweler convert this pendant from a set of cufflinks.  This lovely antique pendant features a portrait of a small brown and tan dog with short ears that stick up jauntily.  The dog has wavy fur and a cheerful expression.  The dog is painted on the back of a domed crystal, creating the "bubble" effect.  This gives the portrait an interesting, slightly magnified look.   The pendant is beautifully made with a hand-crafted bezel setting.  The pendant has an attached bail to accommodate your chain. This unusual pendant would be especially charming for those with sweet, small brown companion!
