14k Yellow Gold 1930 Daily Princetonian Pendant. Tiger w Feather Quill

For sale is a 14k yellow gold Daily Princetonian pendant from the year 1930.  This unusual pendant is a rare find!  The pendant was likely presented as a gift to one of the student editors of the famous Princeton University newspaper, the Daily Princetonian.  The pendant bears the newspaper's symbol in raised gold:  the head of a Tiger holding a feather quill.  The tiger is Princeton's mascot, and the feather quill represents the craft of writing or journalism. The tiger's large head is expertly carved with great detail. The tiger is not fierce, but fairly calm and serene.  His wide nose, deep-set eyes, ears and whiskers are all carefully detailed.  His face is framed with finely textured fur.  He holds the curving quill in his sharp, pointed fangs.   The enameled words "The Daily Princetonian" and the number "30" form a halo above the tiger's head.  The pendant has a large 14k gold bail to accommodate your chain.  This is such an unusual pendant.  It is in amazingly good condition given its age - almost 100 years old!    It would be attractive worn by either a man or a woman.

The item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
