14k Yellow Gold 1" Cobalt Blue Ring w Rose-Cut Diamonds. Georgian

For sale is a 14k yellow gold signet ring with cobalt blue glass and hand-cut old mine diamonds.  This Georgian era ring has wonderful styling and craftmanship.  The ring features a large rectangle of cobalt blue glass that is decorated with a wreath of silver set with rose-cut diamonds.  Each diamond is securely bezel set in the silver.  During this era, diamonds were typically set in silver.  Platinum had not yet been discovered, and white gold was not used in jewelry.  The gold in this ring is a pale shade of yellow gold.  The ring has an elaborately pierced and engraved frame, and a simple gold band in the back.  This ring looks amazing with other Victorian, gothic, and Egyptian revival style rings.  It combines beautifully with diamond, garnet, cameo, and pearl jewelry.  

***The cobalt glass has a crack that is visible from the back of the ring.  The jeweler has added 14k gold bands to the back of the ring to ensure that the glass will remain stable in the setting.

The item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
