For sale is a carved Australian opal cameo pendant in a silver frame.  This is one of the most unusual, beautiful, and expertly crafted opal pendants I have ever seen.  The opal has been delicately hand-carved with the face of a beautiful long-haired woman.  Her face is delicately rendered in exquisite detail.  She has a soft expression, gentle and slightly sad.  Although I do not know the history of the pendant, I imagine the cameo was commissioned as a mourning pendant, a memorial to honor the owner's deceased mother, sister or wife.  This is a classic semi-translucent Australian opal that flashes with brilliant cherry red, lime green, peacock blue and tangerine fire as you move it in the sunlight.  The opal is set in a lovely antique silver frame that is accented with glinting faceted marcasite.  The pendant has an articulated bail to accommodate your chain.  This is such an unusual, elegant, and beautifully crafted pendant!
