14k Gold Australian Cobalt Blue Black Opal Ring. MC Modern

For sale is a 14k yellow gold Australian black opal ring.  This beautifully crafted ring was made in the mid century modern style.  It is heavy and solid, with clean lines and sculptural elegance.  It is truly a work of art that you can wear.  The gemstone is an unusual and vibrantly colorful opal.  The opal is a rich medium shade of blue that flashes with purple, indigo and peacock blue.  There is very little play of color, and the blue and purple shades shift subtly as you move the ring in the light.  The opal is securely set in a hand-crafted gold bezel mounting and backed in gold.  The opal sits slightly below the edge of the mounting, protecting the gemstone from accidental damage.  The gold setting is engraved with an organic texture, like the bark of a tree.  This opal has wonderful color and luminescence.  It has the calming, cool beauty of a quiet ocean on clear day.

**The opal has a couple of small "dings" on the surface. These are clearly visible in the magnified photos.

The item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
