8k- 10k Yellow Gold Garnet Festoon Collar Bib Necklace. Antique

For sale is a 10k yellow gold necklace with natural red garnets.  This antique Victorian era necklace is a festoon or bib style necklace, with garnets distributed around the front of the chain in an elegant pattern.  This beautifully crafted necklace features eight bezel set oval garnets and twelve smaller round garnets.  Five of the bezel set garnets are set in a gentle curve at the front of the chain, with three more bezel set garnets dangling below.  The smaller round garnets are set below and between the bezel set garnets to add sparkle and elegance.  The garnets are stunning, hand-cut and translucent.  Each garnet has a lovely pomegranate red glow in sunlight or bright indoor light.  The chain is a simple curb chain that fastens with a solid gold spring ring clasp.  In the Victorian era, a woman might own only a single necklace during her lifetime, to be worn only on the most important occasions.  This necklace was likely kept in a jewelry box and rarely worn for most of its life.  It would be stunning worn with a velvet or silk gown at the holidays, or over a high-necked blouse at a formal occasion.

**I have listed this pendant as both 8k and 10k.  The necklace it is stamped "333" for 8k gold (the standard in Germany), but because I can't test for 8k the closest test I have is 10k.  The necklace tests positive for 10k.

The item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
