18k White Gold 0.30 Ct Rose Diamond Memento Mori Ring. SKULLs & Crescent Moons

For sale is an 18k white gold antique Memento Mori ring with a rose-cut diamond.  This Victorian era antique ring is beautifully crafted and stunning.  Memento mori rings were popular in the 17th century as mourning jewelry, to help the living to remember their loved ones who had departed.  This diamond ring was likely custom-made for a young bride whose fiance met an early death.  By wearing this ring, she let everyone know that she was in mourning for her lost love. 

The ring is simply spectacular.  It features a gorgeous rose-cut diamond set high in a cathedral mounting.  The sides of the diamond are decorated with four tiny white gold crescent moons, each set with tiny hand-cut diamonds.  Two tiny skulls frame the diamond.  Each skull is depicted in minute detail.  The skulls face toward the diamond.  The diamond is secure in prongs.  The diamond has inclusions visible on magnification.  

The item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
