10K Yellow Gold 1800s Book LOCKET w Victorian TINTYPE Portraits

For sale is a solid 10k yellow gold book-style locket with engraved, enamel flowers and antique tintype photo portraits.   This masterfully crafted antique locket was created during the early 1800s for "Ellie," most likely in memory of a beloved father and brother or husband.  The locket is styled like a hard-cover book, and opens and closes via a set of hinges along the spine.  The locket closes securely with a clasp at the middle of the locket. The locket is beautifully decorated on both sides with a floral background design that resembles intricate, tiny starbursts. Two engraved flower form the central design on the front of the locket.  The larger flower is accented with red enamel, and the smaller flower is painted with transparent blue enamel.  The flowers are accented by engraved leaves painted in grassy green enamel.  The back of the locket is also decorated with an all-over floral, starburst pattern.  It has a curving engraved scroll with the name "Ellie" etched in elegant cursive script.  The locket opens to reveal stunning tintype metal portraits of two Victorian era gentlemen.  The older gentleman has darker hair and a large moustache.  The younger man has fine features and serious expression.  This lovely antique locket has a jump ring bail to accommodate your chain.
