Australian Opal Signet Ring in Bold Silver Setting. Bezel Set. Heavy

For sale is an Australian opal signet ring in sterling silver.  This ring is quite old and very unusual.  This is a large, heavy silver signet ring.  The opal is an old-fashioned white opal, but displays a lot of fire in a rainbow of colors.  This opal displays the more common green and blue shades, but also flashes with more unusual red and orange fire.  The opal is old and has lots of small marks on the surface.  None of the marks jeopardizes the strength or integrity of the opal.  I think they add a cool "weathered" look to this unusual ring.  The opal is an oval that is set "east-west" (horizontal) in the rounded rectangular face of this signet ring.  The oval is bezel set, completely framed in silver.  The opal is backed in silver, so you cannot see the back of the opal from inside the ring.  The mounting is solid silver (not hollow) and so the ring is unusually heavy.  It feels quite lovely on the finger.  This is an unusual, heavy, well-crafted ring with a lovely weathered antique look.  It would look lovely on a man or a woman.  It can be resized with care by your jeweler.

The item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
