For sale is an exceptionally large and colorful Australian opal pendant—a spectacular stone with wonderful shifting play of color.

The opal is an unusual, slightly domed kite shape, beautifully framed in a hand-crafted silver bezel setting. Its generous size makes this a true statement piece and gives the opal plenty of room to show off its remarkable color.

In dimmer light, the stone is subtle and ethereal, with a soft milky appearance. Move it into brighter light and it comes alive with flashes of lime green, turquoise, blue, lavender, yellow, orange and pink. The opalescence forms long, flowing stripes that travel diagonally across the stone from left to right, almost like colorful rivers running through the opal.

The craftsmanship is lovely as well. The silver backing features a whimsical cut-out flower design, allowing light to enter from behind and illuminate the opal. An articulated bail at the top accommodates your favorite chain.

The silver has developed a dark natural patina/tarnish, which we have left intact. The new owner can easily polish it brighter or keep the darker finish for its wonderfully aged character.
