Lab-Created Blue Boulder Opal Ring in Sterling Silver. 1" *Video*

For sale is a fabulous large boulder opal ring, set in a beautifully hand-crafted sterling silver mounting. The combination of earthy chocolate brown and luminous blue-green color gives this unusual stone a wonderfully organic, almost landscape-like appearance.

The large oval opal features a rich chocolate brown matrix interrupted by three wonderful “lakes” of opalescent color. In dimmer light, these areas appear predominantly blue with flashes of purple. Bring the ring into brighter light and it comes alive with vivid blue, turquoise and teal flashes.

A note about the opal: I am listing this stone as lab-created because I cannot be certain whether it is natural or synthetic. The play of color is unusually regular in places, which makes me question whether it is natural, although I have personally never encountered a lab-created boulder opal quite like this one. Please purchase with the understanding that I am making no claim that the opal is natural.

The stone is backed in sterling silver and securely bezel set. A larger, free-form silver oval sweeps around the bezel, accented at the bottom with three rounded Bali-style silver beads. The slightly irregular lines and hand-worked finish give the setting a wonderful artisan quality without competing with the dramatic stone.

The ring is finished with a substantial half-round sterling silver band.

Large, earthy and full of color, this is a striking statement ring that could be worn beautifully by either a man or woman.
