18k Yellow Gold & Silver Chrysocolla Lovebirds Chain Necklace. Peru

For sale is a one of a kind 18k yellow gold and sterling silver chain necklace from Peru. This stunning hand-made necklace features a large silver central pendant with a thin layer of solid 18k gold on top. The pendant displays two U-shaped Peruvian lovebirds staring into each other's gemstone eyes while sitting tail-to-tail. These lovebirds are known as Andean "cock-of-the-rock" birds, or tunki, and they are the national birds of Peru.

Dangling and swaying from the lovebirds is a cascade of chrysocolla gemstones.  Peruvian Chrysocolla is an attractive, blue and green opaque gemstone that displays a variety of colorful designs due to the oxidization of copper, iron and manganese.

The pendant is set on a generous 24" silver chain set with Chrysocolla stones. The necklace fastens with a hand-made clasp. This is truly a unique work of art and a cultural masterpiece. You will not likely see another necklace like this one!
