For sale is pair of artisan crafted sterling silver and 18k yellow gold earrings with Australian jelly opals and natural brown sapphires. Part of the Sea Green Mermaid Reimagined Vintage Collection, we made these earrings and two pendants from a very large pair of earrings.
Each earring features a large sapphire set in silver with an Ethiopian opal dangling below. The gemstones are all bezel set at the center of silver frames. The frames are stamped or engraved with a triangular design and accented with solid 18k yellow gold disks. The gold disks are engraved with swirls and sunburst designs.
The sapphires are large rounded triangles with hand-cut facets. Each sapphire has some translucence and a rich chocolate brown color. They appear darker or lighter depending on the light. The semi-translucent opals have a pale honey yellow color and flash with vibrant cherry red, lime green, orange and blue fire in the light.
The opals are egg-shaped, and have been polished with interesting smooth angles. The earrings fasten with silver posts and silver butterfly backs. These large, vibrant earrings are truly one-of-a-kind. They are show-stoppers!
