14k Yellow Gold Australian Jelly Opal Halo & Black Star Sapphire Ring

For sale is a 14k yellow gold ring with a natural black star sapphire and Australian jelly opals.  This antique ring is quite unusual.  It is rare to find a star sapphire paired with opals!  Star sapphires and opals are two of nature's most magical and fascinating gemstones, in my opinion. 

The star sapphire is deep brown with a vibrant, glowing asterism that grows larger in bright light.  (Like many star sapphires, this gemstone does not display a rayed star, but rather a bright glowing "asterism.")  The sapphire is surrounded by a halo of translucent "jelly" opals.  The opals are translucent with a base color that is pale turquoise.  Each opal flashes with violet, blue, yellow, orange and pink fire as you move it in the light. 

The sapphire and opals are each secure in a multi-prong crown setting.  Even the back and sides of the mounting are elegantly and beautifully crafted with delicate filigreed designs!  This antique ring is currently a size 4.25, but can be easily resized by your jeweler to fit you perfectly. 

***Please note:  One of the opals has a hairline crack, but is stable and secure in the setting.  The item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
