14k Gold Antique Egyptian Winged Scarab SUN God Pendant

For sale is a 14k yellow gold pendant with a winged scarab symbol.  This antique pendant was crafted in Egypt where the scarab was revered as a god, and had special significance as a symbol of immortality and transformation.  Khepri is the scarab-faced god in ancient Egyptian religion. Khepri represented the rising of the morning sun and was known as the Sun God. He also represented the renewal of life, and his name means "to come into existence." 

The pendant is a domed disk of 14k yellow gold that is elaborately carved and pierced.  The scarab's lobed body forms the center point of the pendant.  Her delicate legs curve together below her body, clutching a tiny gold "gemstone."  Her eagle-like wings curve above her head, and their tips meet together at the top of the pendant. 

The scarab's elegant front legs are raised above her head, holding aloft a sacred chalice.  The back of the pendant is polished smooth.  I have added a 14k yellow gold spring ring clasp for you to use as a bail to accommodate your chain. This unusual pendant would be equally attractive worn by a man or a woman.  

In ancient Egyptian religion the scarab was a symbol of immortality, resurrection, transformation and protection.

The item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
