14k Gold Ammonite Cephalopod Fossil Pendant. Pre-Cretaceous

For sale is a hand-crafted antique 14k yellow gold pendant with a natural ammonite fossil. Many millions of years old, ammonites are related to modern day octopus and squid. This ammonite is tightly coiled like a whirlpool with ridged scallops around each layer.

The pendant is an antique from the Victorian era and the fossil is held in a frame with zig-zag design and twisted rope gold edging. The pendant has an articulated bail to accommodate your chain. It can be worn with either side facing forward. This pendant would be beautiful worn by a man or a woman.

Ammonite fossils were once sea creatures that are most closely related to modern day squid or octopus. They lived in the oceans from 65-240 million years ago. They became extinct around the same time as the dinosaurs. These fossils can be found found in the Rocky Mountains of North America. When you wear an ammonite you are truly wearing a piece of American natural history!
