14k Gold Antique 3-D Egyptian Winged Scarab Pendant

For sale is a 14k gold and rhodium pendant with a winged scarab symbol. This exceptionally well-crafted antique pendant is detailed on both sides and is truly breathtaking. This piece was crafted during the Egyptian Revival craze during the Victorian era. We converted it from a pin to a pendant so it would be worn and enjoyed.

In Egypt the scarab was revered as a god, and had special significance as a symbol of immortality and transformation. Khepri is the scarab-faced god in ancient Egyptian religion, and represented the rising of the morning sun and was known as the Sun God. He also represented the renewal of life, and his name means "to come into existence." 

The pendant is elaborately carved and pierced. The scarab's lobed rose-gold body forms the center point of the pendant and is decorated with intricate engraved patterns. Her eagle-like wings are extended as if in flight, and each has delicate feathered pieces in multiple shades of gold with tiny engraved texture. Her delicate legs and antennae extend from her her body.  

The underside of the scarab is rose gold and is carefully crafted with dimensional torso and legs. The white metal on the wings is rhodium, used by vintage artisans to amplify the brightness of a piece of jewelry. We have added two 14k gold bails to accommodate your chain.
