14k Gold Victorian Love Knot Double SNAKE Pendant. Medallion

For sale is a 14k yellow gold double snake pendant. This is a reproduction of an antique pendant and a truly unusual subject. Not one but two snakes are tied in a love knot, forming a double figure eight within a larger circle. The snakes are both swallowing a tail in a "double ouroboros." Traditionally the ouroboros is a single snake swallowing its own tail, a symbol of wholeness or infinity. Given the love knot design, it seems that the double ouroboros here symbolizes a love that will last forever! The snakes' bodies are delicately textured with scale design. Their almond shaped heads have engraved eyes. The pendant is large and can be worn like a medallion. It has an articulated bail to accommodate your chain.
