14k Gold + Silver Australian Boulder Opal, Topaz + Amethyst Earrings *Video*

For sale is a wonderful one-of-a-kind pair of boulder opal earrings, beautifully hand-crafted in sterling silver with solid 14k yellow gold accents.

Each earring centers on a rectangular natural boulder opal. The two stones are not identical—as you would expect from natural boulder opals—but they are beautifully matched in color and character. Both display wonderful flashes of purple, violet, lavender and electric blue over their earthy matrix. On one stone, a small area of the dark brown boulder remains visible along the bottom, a lovely reminder of the opal's natural origins.

The opals are securely bezel set and backed in sterling silver. The artist has surrounded them with sweeping lengths of solid 14k yellow gold wire, creating an abstract, architectural frame that gives the earrings a fabulous modernist feel.

Even better, each earring is accented with two additional gemstones. A small round purple amethyst cabochon sits above the opal, while a rich blue topaz cabochon rests below. Both are bezel set in silver, and their jewel-toned colors echo the purple and blue fire within the opals beautifully.

The earrings have sterling silver posts with sterling silver butterfly backs for secure wear.
