14k Gold Rose-Cut Diamond + Sapphire Silver-Top Ring. Victorian 1.3"

For sale is a 14k "silver-top" diamond and sapphire ring. The entire ring is made of 14k yellow gold, while the top has a very thin layer of silver to augment the color of the gemstones. During the Georgian era, silver was believed to be the appropriate metal to best accentuate gemstones (white gold had not yet been discovered). 

The ring is a navette style, meaning very tall and thin, with a long curling gold band in the shape of an S bisecting a clover at the center of the ring. Both the S and the clover is set with tiny rose-cut diamonds, with a lab-created ruby set at the center of the clover (the original diamond or blue sapphire likely broke and was replaced with this ruby). Two natural ceylon blue sapphires sit aside the clover, and two small pearls are set in the swirling tips of the S, with all five stones sitting in a colorful line. Two more 14k gold bands curl up from the shoulders of the ring.

The ring is very large and makes a bold statement on the hand. The ring is heavy at 7g, but feels light and delicate on the finger. It would make a unique and beautiful engagement ring, or right hand anniversary ring.  

 

** Note: Lab-created ruby is chemically identical to natural ruby, with the same hardness on the Moh's scale as measured by a gem tester.
