14k Gold Reverse Painted Essex Crystal Scottie Dog BUBBLE Pendant

For sale is a 14k yellow gold "Bubble" pendant with a  reverse painted dog.  Reverse painted jewelry was very popular during the late 19th and early 20th century, most often used for sporting themes such as hunting, fishing and often, dogs! 

This lovely antique pendant features a full-body profile of a jaunty Scottish terrier (Scottie) dog with a cranky expression and a sporty little sweater. The dog is painted on the back of a domed crystal, creating the bubble effect. This gives the portrait an interesting, slightly magnified look.   

The pendant is beautifully made with a hand-crafted bezel setting. It is antique and shows some signs of wear. We have added a 14k yellow gold spring ring clasp as a bail to accommodate your chain. This unusual pendant would be especially charming for those with sweet, small brown companion!
