14k Gold Reverse Painted Essex Crystal Horse BUBBLE Pendant *Video*

For sale is a 14k yellow gold "Bubble" pendant with a reverse painted horse.  Reverse painted jewelry was very popular during the late 19th and early 20th century, most often used for sporting themes such as hunting and riding.  This lovely antique pendant features a portrait of the head and neck of a brown horse with a black mane.  The horse wears a bridle.  The horse is presented in profile, facing left.  She appears alert and slightly docile.  The horse is painted on the back of a domed crystal, creating the "bubble" effect.  This gives the portrait an interesting, slightly magnified look.   The pendant is well-made with a hand-crafted bezel setting. The crystal bubble is completely backed in 14k gold.  I have added a 14k spring ring clasp as a bail to accommodate your chain.
