The ammolite appears to have fossilized on top of a brown stone, creating this unusual color pattern. Ammolites are often mis-identified as boulder opals because they display similar iridescence and play of color.
This pendant, with its vibrant purple, blue and green shades, looks very similar to a boulder opal! The pendant comes with a free 14k gold filled chain.

Note: Ammolite is a fascinating gemstone, made from the fossilized bodies of "ammonites", sea creatures that lived in the oceans from 65-240 million years ago. These fossils are found in the Rocky Mountains of North America. When you wear an ammolite you are truly wearing a piece of American natural history!
