14k Gold Cobalt Blue Enamel Pendant w Trio of Swallows

For sale is a 14k yellow gold pendant with cobalt blue glass. This antique pendant has wonderful styling and craftsmanship. The pendant features a large dome of cobalt blue glass decorated with a trio of swirling swallows, ringed in a wreath of braided gold. The cobalt is so deep blue you can lose yourself in it. The swallows, elegant and effortless, chase each other in an endless circle, evoking purity, good fortune, and otherworldliness.

The pendant was converted from a pair of antique earrings by our jeweler (you can see the solder mark on the back), making it a one-of-a-kind pendant. The pendant is backed in solid 14k gold and has an attached bail to accommodate your chain.  It would look wonderful worn alone or layered with other symbolic jewelry.

Notes on the symbolism of swallows: Throughout history, swallows have been imbued with powerful symbolism. For the Celts, swallows carried the souls of the dead into the afterworld. The Greeks and Native American cultures viewed swallows as important signs of good fortune. For Christians, swallows are associated with Mary as symbols of motherhood and purity.
