14k Gold Carved Australian Opal Guanyin Pendant. 1.7"+ 8g *Video*

For sale is a 14k yellow gold pendant with a carved Australian jelly opal in the image of the goddess Guanyin, the goddess of compassion (also spelled Kuan Yin, Quan Yin and Guan Yin.)  This lovely pendant is beautifully hand-crafted to bring out the natural lavender, purple and blue fire of this ethereal jelly opal. 

The opal is beautifully, delicately and expertly carved.  The detail is exquisite on her face, the folds of her robe, and the flowers at her feet.  The opal is truly magical.  It is semi-translucent, and flashes with otherworldly fire in the sunlight.  The opal is set inside a rectangular 14k gold frame with tiny milgrain along the inner edge. 

The upper left corner of the pendant is decorated with a curving bamboo stalk covered with elegant leaves.   The opal is visible from the back of the pendant.  The pendant has an attached bail to accommodate your chain.

Guanyin is a Bodhisattva associated with compassion. She was called the Goddess of Mercy by Jesuit missionaries in China.   Guanyin means "The One Who Perceives the Sounds of the World."  Guanyin is often referred to as the "most widely beloved Buddhist Divinity" with miraculous powers to assist all those who pray to her.

**NOTE: The opal has a narrow crack at the neckline.  The crack extends about halfway along the neckline. (See magnified photo below.) My jeweler recommends strengthening it with adhesive along the back.  I leave this decision to the buyer.  Otherwise the item shows normal wear for a pre-owned piece (light scratches, dings, dents and scuff marks.)
