10k Gold Antique Irish Scottish Celtic Penannular Pendant. Victorian

For sale is a 10k yellow gold antique penannular pendant with a 14k gold bail. We believe this piece is a variation of the classic Celtic brooch, traditionally used as fasteners for a kilt. They are associated with Ireland, Scotland and England the beginning of the Early Medieval period.

This one has the detailed engraving and hollow design more typical of the Victorian era. We have had it transformed from a brooch into a pendant. This pendant is particularly lovely because of its three-dimensional design. The "pin" that bisects the circle is a 3-D hexagonal column with round beads at both ends. The circle itself is heavily engraved with intricate triangular designs. The back of the pendant has solder marks from where the original brooch pin back was removed.

This pendant is beautifully hand-crafted, sturdy and good-sized. The pendant measures over an inch long and has large attached bail to accommodate your chain. It can be worn by man or a woman. Perfect for anyone with Irish, British or Scottish roots or a special connection to things Celtic!
