10k Yellow Gold 2 Row Black Leather Bracelet. Antique

A rare and wonderfully unusual African tourist–souvenir bracelet from the early to mid 1900s—pieces like this almost never surface anymore, especially in such lovely condition.

The bracelet is crafted from two narrow bands of deep black leather, each one wrapped, protected, and beautifully framed by solid 10k yellow gold. The design is made up of multiple gently curved segments: each segment is capped at both ends with thick gold and further encased with a shaped sheet of gold that allows the leather to show through while keeping it securely supported. The segments are linked together with large gold rings, giving the bracelet a graceful, articulated movement around the wrist.

Although it measures about 6 inches when laid flat, the curved construction means it wears larger. It fits my wrist comfortably, and I typically wear a 7" bracelet—so the sizing is quite forgiving.

This bracelet has survived the decades beautifully, but like all antique leather pieces, it should be worn with care. Please avoid getting it wet and remove it during bathing, cooking, washing dishes, gardening, or any activity that may stress the materials.
